Job Description
Responsibilities
ESG Strategy & Implementation:
- Develop and implement ESG policies aligned with IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, SDGs, and integrate ESG into the project lifecycle
Environmental Management:
- Oversee environmental impact assessments (EIA/ESIA), ensure compliance with NESREA and FMEnv regulations
- Carbon footprint, Waste management, Water usage, Biodiversity impact, Support environmental permits and approvals
Social & Community Management:
- Manage stakeholder engagement plans (SEP), handle community relations for project sites, ensure grievance mechanisms are in place, monitor land acquisition and resettlement risks (RAP if applicable), promote local content and community development programs
Occupational Health & Safety (HSE Integration):
- Integrate HSE systems into the ESG framework, monitor contractor safety performance, ensure compliance with PTW, LOTO, and risk assessments, and conduct site safety audits and inspections
ESG Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare ESG reports for: Investors, Lenders (DFIs, banks), Board management Report using: GRI standards, TCFD climate disclosures, ISSB (where applicable).
- Maintain the ESG KPIs dashboard
Regulatory & Investor Compliance:
- Liaise with regulators (NESREA, state environmental agencies), ensure compliance with investor ESG requirements (DFIs, private equity, climate funds).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in:
- Environmental Science
- Engineering
- Sustainability
- Occupational Health & Safety
- Certifications (preferred):
- NEBOSH / IOSH
- ESG / Sustainability certification
- Experience: 8–10+ years.
Key Skills Required:
- ESG framework development (IFC / Equator Principles), Environmental & social risk assessment, HSE integration in project execution, Stakeholder management (communities, regulators), ESG reporting (GRI, TCFD, ISSB), Solar/renewable project lifecycle understanding, Audit & compliance management.
